Argan nuts

Before using the oil, and before being extracted, argan oil was trapped in argan nuts!

Argan nuts are very difficult to crack and extremely time-consuming and labor-intensive to work with.

First, argan trees are going to produce the argan fruit, which is a pulpy fruit that is extremely bitter and aromatic, goats are going to climb the argan trees and eat the fruits.

After a day or two, the goats, excuse me for explaining such "organic" detail, flush out the argan fruits without their pulps.

They lay on the ground for many weeks drying and maturing, then gatherers, especially women and children are going to pick them and take them to the nearest village where they are going to be cleaned and sorted out.

Of course, the infected ones are going to be thrown away into fire to produce heat for the family for cooking and boiling water.

Then, when enough argan nuts have been collected, women gather and start cracking them, one by one.

It’s a very difficult process and it’s very time-consuming.

How argan nut oil is extracted?

There are two techniques for extracting argan oil, the first one requires grinding raw argan nuts and getting a very bitter and greenish argan oil.

This is used extensively for the cosmetic industry and is the one that you are going to find in shampoos and other skin and hair products.

It’s not meant for culinary use though.

The second technique of argan nuts oil extraction is the one that has been done for thousands of years in Morroco.

The women are going to roast the argan nuts and then grind them using stone meals.

This technique is going to yield a very aromatic and sweet argan oil that is both used for cosmetic and also culinary purposes.

It’s used for hair care and most importantly as dipping oil for every day breakfast.

Argan nut allergy?

Yes, argan nuts allergy exist and as with most nut allergies, it should be highly monitored and people should not try to battle with their conditions, when they start feeling allergy symptoms like skin inflammations and abdominal pain, they must immediately stop consuming and using argan oil and head to the nearest hospital.
