Rosacea and stress
Does stress increase rosacea? Although this idea may seem legitimate and easy to answer, it's not!
To this day, scientists and doctors do not know what causes rosacea in the first place, most of them think that it has something to do with our gut bacteria, while others think that it's related to pollutants in the environment, but no one seems to have a clear answer, and to this day, scientists think that rosacea is probably caused by a multitude of elements, among which is our lifestyle.
However, is rosacea negatively influenced by stress levels?
Probably yes!
I have a friend who has rosacea, she has successfully made most of its symptoms disappear, and I still remember when she was just developing this skin disease some few years ago, she had inflamed skin area around her nose and her eyes, and she looked very depressed and sad!
Within weeks, she started trying different essential oils and homemade remedies, which didn't help her a lot, and one thing I kept noticing all the time was when she got depressed and really stressed out, her symptoms would simply increase, almost overnight!
When she told her doctor about this, he confirmed that it may have something to do with stress, it's not a direct cause, but it will probably increase rosacea symptoms!
So, we began looking into things that caused her stress, and slowly, she began getting rid of them, so, among the things she got rid of was alcohol and tobacco, my friend stopped smoking and drinking altogether!
And I want you to do the same, if you are addicted to a substance, get rid of it, it will not only cause you stress, but increase your rosacea symptoms dramatically.
The second thing my friend did was to cut down on pork, animal fats, and most importantly, spicy foods and beer.
Although I've already mentioned alcohol, my friend was an avid beer drinker, because she was a party girl, she liked to hang out with her friends and have lots of drinks, when we argued about this, she would always ask me this question: what should I drink them?
Well, I told her that beer wasn't an option and she needed to cut it down, and indeed, after just two months of following this strict diet, and her doctor’s prescription, she began to notice huge improvements in her symptoms, and I think that stress played a very important role in her rosacea development.
She is very happy now, feeling great, and her rosacea symptoms have totally disappeared!
