Does castor oil clog pores?

Although castor oil is a very healthy fatty acid used for cleansing your skin, getting rid of acne spots and different pimples, and also for reducing hair loss, many people have asked about whether it clogs pores or not!

So, is it?

The answer is yes, castor oil can act as a comedogenic substance in some skin types!

A comedogenic substance is one that clogs your pores and one that causes an obstruction in your skin which doesn't allow sebum to get out freely!

Does this mean that you should avoid using castor oil?

Absolutely not, in fact, I highly recommend that you start using castor oil whenever you are suffering from skin problem as it's fantastically rich in antioxidants and also many antiseptic and antibacterial compounds that are going to get rid of most of the skin problems and diseases you may encounter, however, if you have a sensitive skin that's very weak, then, you may think about lowering your castor oil amounts, and avoid using it a lot as it may act as a comedogenic substance which will definitely clog your pores!

So, what can you do when castor oil clogs your pores?

Well, you have many solutions to unclog your pores; the easiest one in my opening is using sugar.

You take two teaspoons of sugar and you ground them with a spoon as much as possible, then, you mix them with the juice of one small lemon and you apply using a circular movement to your face and skin once every week, this is one of the easiest ways you can use in order to get rid of clogged pores and to help avoid acne and blackhead /whitehead formation in your face and skin in general.
