Salicylic acid for oily skin

Well, I know a thing or two about using salicylic acid for oily skin, it's because my sister used to suffer from terrible acne spots when she was young, in fact, she still has scars all over her face, tiny ones, they are barely visible, but if you pay close attention, you will notice them!

Indeed, she suffered not only from acne, but she also had terribly oily skin, and no matter what she tried, only two things helped her: tea tree oil and salicylic acid!

I've talked in a previous post how my sister used tea tree oil successfully, but today, I'm going to share with you another way, in fact, my husband's way, because he was the one to recommend using salicylic acid for her oily skin.

The first thing you need to understand is that there are many concentrations of salicylic acid, and to get rid of your oily skin, you shouldn't exceed 30%!

I know that most people are going to think that the more salicylic acid they use on their oily skin, the better, but it's wrong!

First of all, you need to understand that your skin is producing too much sebum, the oily substance, because it is under attack!

When your skin is suffering from bacterial and sometimes fungal infections, it's going to produce sebum, the oily substance which is going to reduce the concentration of bacteria and funguses, this is very good, but most of the time, using too much salicylic acid is going to cause the same thing as those nasty bacteria on your skin!

In other words, your skin is going to get inflamed and as a reaction, it will produce much more sebum, oily substance, in other words, your skin will become much more greasier!

My advice is to never exceed thirty percent, and to always use salicylic acid in liquid form.

There are gels, pills, and even soaps which contain salicylic acid and which are useful for your skin, but in my opinion, only salicylic acid in liquid form is going to give you amazing results, as with my sister.

So, you can either use salicylic acid as it is, 30%, or lower its concentration by using one teaspoon of warm water, it should not be hot, in fact, you should be able to put your finger in it.

In my opinion, if you have terribly oily skin, then, you should use salicylic acid with the highest concentration, 30%, however, if you don't have terribly oily skin, then, you should probably mix it with a little bit of warm water, this is more than enough in my opinion.

The call is yours, and you should probably start by mixing one teaspoon of salicylic acid with one teaspoon of warm water and try it on your skin, if it improves, then go ahead and use more, however, if it causes inflammations and redness, then you need to probably to lower the concentration a little.

So, using a cotton ball, apply only one teaspoon of salicylic acid to your skin daily, and please, never exceed two weeks because it can be very dangerous and also very aggressive on your skin.

In conclusion, the best way to use salicylic acid is to choose liquid form, which only contains 30%, use it daily, with warm water, and never exceed two weeks, this way, you will decrease chances of causing inflammations and worsening your case!
