Is rosacea contagious?

I was talking to a friend of mine recently who has rosacea and she asked me the following question: is it contagious?

Well, after doing my research, I came to the conclusion that rosacea, to this day, is still a mystery to many researchers and scientists, they don't even understand the real causes behind it, and are just guessing and coming up with theories about the reasons why some people will get it and others not.

Rest assured, according to many dermatologists, rosacea is NOT contagious.

According to Wikipedia, rosacea is probably caused by either lifestyle habits, like stress, alcohol consumption, or even caffeine and spicy foods, or different health conditions such as high cathelicidins, demodex mites or intestinal bacteria.

Well, if you pay attention to these causes, you are going to find that none of them is contagious, for example, if a person close to you has rosacea from intestinal bacteria, he or she will probably be unable to contaminate you because these pathogens are not easily transmitted.

So, after discussing these findings with my friend, she came to the conclusion that the best way to reduce her rosacea was to take good care of her diet and enjoying a healthy lifestyle.

So, she stopped drinking alcohol and caffeinated beverages, she wasn't eating lots of spicy foods, so, she avoided doing this as well, and she followed her doctor’s prescription antibiotics, most importantly, tetracycline, and this helped her dramatically reduce her rosacea symptoms.

To conclude, rosacea, according to the latest studies, and also according to many dermatologists, is not contagious.
